PURPOSE:To obtain the index of softening solubility of coals and the like by measuring the fluidity in the range from a softening starting temperature to a caking temprature by a Giesseler's plastometer and integrating the measured values thereof. CONSTITUTION:In the case the fluidity of the coals is evaluated, the fluidity F in the range from the softening starting temperature T1 and the temperature TN immediately before caking is measured by the Giesseler's plastometer which is provided with quickness and simplicity. By using the equation 1, is obtained the characteristic value representing the solubility over the entire temperature range of the softening solubility. In this method, is eliminated the defects caused by the conventional way in which the mixing standard of the coal to be charged in a coke furnace is determined, with only the highest fluidity being employed as a softening solubility characteristic value. Furthermore, the coke having a specified strength can be obtained, and the raw material can be advantageously saved. |
