<p>The contact tube (142) is intended to guide a metal filler wire (140,141) towards a structure to be welded while holding the wire in electrical contact inside a longitudinal channel bored in this tube. In order to improve the quality and the uniformity of the weld, adjustment means (158,163,164) are provided which tend to urge permanently the wire against the internal wall of the channel (144) in the tube whilst at the same time permitting it to slide longitudinally by gentle friction in this channel.
