PURPOSE:To perform a reliable measurement with little variance, by forming nozzle parts, which form an air jet, in stripper guides provided incidentally for work rolls of a rolling mill and by providing detecting heads in nozzle parts. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower work rolls 21 and 21 provided along with backup rolls are provided with stripper guides 4 and 4, and the steel piece placed on a roller table 3 is led between work rolls 21 and 21 by these guides. A detecting part A constituting a detection line is provided between the stripper guides 4 and 4. This detecting part A can be installed between the stripper guides 4 and 4 of the left side in the figure, and the edge of the end part of a material 10 is detected just before and after rolling. By this constitution, reliable measurement results with little variance are obtained. |
