PURPOSE:To search defective pages simply among a series of printed output pages, by printing a defective page all over at the fault occurrence time and outputting it and by outputting the next page as a fault separator page with a pattern easy to discriminate. CONSTITUTION:If a fault is detected by a fault detector 109 in the middle of the print processing of one-page components of dot data, an FF108 is set by the signal from the detector 109, and an input switch 103 is switched to suppress the input from a receiving buffer 101, and the input from a fault separator text buffer 102 is permitted. For example, if a fault occurs in a character pattern memory 105, the signal indicating the defective state is transmitted to a printer part 110 to perform a defective print. A turning-on signal is transmitted simultaneously with setting of the FF108, and a fault occurrence position 30A and the following part of the page is printed all over as shown in the page 302. The image code of a pattern which is stored in the buffer 102 and indicates a fault separator 303 is processed to print out the fault separator 303. |
