PURPOSE:To operate a new I/O without remodeling software, by giving a function, by which the data string from a CPU is converted to a different data string in accordance with the new I/O, to an I/O control device. CONSTITUTION:CPUs 1a and 1b input and output data to an I/O 2 through an I/O control device 3. For example, the I/O 2 is a magnetic tape device, and it is assumed that the I/O 2 is regarded as a paper tape read and punch device by the CPU 1a and is regarded as a card reader punch by the CPU 1b. When a switching part 4 of the device 3 selects the CPU 1a, the switching part 4 sends the discrimination signal of the CPU 1a to an I/O control part 7 through a signal line 8, and the control part 7 generates a code corresponding to this discrimination signal and converts and edits the data string for paper tape to a data string for magnetic tape and adds a discrimination code to this converted data string for magnetic tape and writes it in the I/O 2. In case of data read from the I/O 2, when the control part 7 discriminates the CPU 1a by the discrimination code, read data is converted to a read data string for paper tape and is sent to the CPU 1a through the switching part 4. |
