PROCEDE DE PREPARATION DE DERIVES DE L'ACIDE PENEME-3-CARBOXYLIQUE

Penem-3-carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<4> represents an optionally protected carboxyl group; and pharmaceutically utilisable salts are described, prepared by reaction of a compound of the formula <IMAGE> with a compound of the formula <IMAGE> in which X represents a halogen atom, an alkylsulphonyloxy group, an arylsulphonyloxy group or a hydroxyl group; provided that if X is a hydroxyl group, the reaction is effected in the presence of an azodicarboxylic acid diester of the formula <IMAGE> and of triphenylphosphine, with the formation of a compound of the formula <IMAGE> and if appropriate one or more of the following reactions are added: a) removal of the hydroxyl protective groups; b) removal of the amino protective groups; c) removal of the carboxyl protective groups; d) conversion of an amino group or alkylamino group R<2>-NH- to a group of the formula <IMAGE> e) salt formation.
