A damping device for a machine tool slide is described, in particular for a slide in portal form which is arranged so as to be movable by means of roller bearing segments along the guides of a base. This damping device, which enables rough-machining on the machine tool with greater chip removal without the portal slide starting to vibrate during its feed, comprises at least one steel plate which is attached to the portal slide, is provided on one side with a layer of wear-resistant material and is in surface contact with the guides. The opposite side of the plate is exposed to an adjustable pressure exerted by hydraulic cylinders. |
