PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight and easy-to-form reflector that is suitable applied to a rearview mirror, etc. by molding a mirror body containing a square groove provided to the light-transmissive resin and then forming a vitreous layer on the smooth surface of the mirror body and a reflector layer on the surface containing the square groove to avoid a flaw caused by an attachment of dust, etc. CONSTITUTION:A Fresnel lens form having a belt-type square groove 2 is formed on the rear surface of the light-transmissive synthetic resin such as acrylic resin, polycarbonate, etc. to obtain a mirror body 1. This mirror body is attached to a positive porality substrate 6 within a high-vacuum processing room 5, and the SiO2 vapor particles, etc. are ionized by the ion of the Ar gas given from a negative pole (target) 7 and then sprayed to a substrate 6 to obtain a vitreous layer 4 on the smooth surface of the body 1. Then, the silver, etc. is evaporated on the surface containing the groove 2 to form a reflector layer 3. Thus a light-weight, hard-to-be- contaminated and hard-to-be-damaged reflector is obtained with a large surface hardness plus a wide-angle viewfield. |
