<p>The process of shaping a sheet of leather, or similar material, for shoe uppers, involves pressing the sheet between male and female moulds (2) to produce selective stretching. The height of the complementary ribs (3) on the moulds are proportional to the amount of pre-curving which is required. One set of ribs are distributed from a centre point (8) along the radii of an arc of a circle, around an angle of 220-250 degrees. Another set are distributed from a centre point (9) along the radii of two arcs of a circle, around an angle of 25-50 degrees.</p> |
