<p>The luggage carrier which can be mounted on the rear part of a vehicle can be adapted to carry a wide variety of loads. It consists of a frame with two vertical members (1) joined by a member (2a) across the top, an intermediate lower member (2b) parallel to it, and a bottom support parallel to them. The bottom support has two short end members (3) projecting at right angles to the verticals. These carry two parallel cross members (4,4a) forming a shelf. By using suitable straps, different sizes of suitcases resting on the shelf can be strapped against the vertical part of the frame. The parallel bottom members (4,4a) can house U-section channels (5) which can be extended telescopically. By using an upper clip (6,7) a bicycle can be secured to the frame, the wheels fitting into the channel extensions. By using suitable straps, these these extensions can be used to carry awkwardly shaped loads such as haversacks on each end.</p> |
