PURPOSE:When silage is made, both lactic bacterium and hay bacillus are simultaneously inoculated to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria by the increase in lactic acid and reduction in pH, thus producing high-quality silage with good palatability. CONSTITUTION:When straws of rice plant or wheat are used to make silages, lactic bacterium and hay bacillus are inoculated to the raw material at a ratio of 10/1- 100/1, when necessary, fermentable saccharides, e.g., squeezed oranges, are added to accelerate the lactic fermentation under anaerobic conditions. |
