The protective sheet for protecting flat surfaces against the weather is rolled on a drum which rests directly on the surface. The drum can be weighted when in use to give it greater stability. It can be moved by rotating handles or by a motor and the movement is transmitted by a rod, a chain and pinions. The supports for the drum are connected by a cross bar (13). The supports can be placed just at the ends of the drum so that the rollers do not touch the wet parts of the surfaces.
