The new needle assembly has a long hollow handle with an opening in the near end. At the far end, the tip has a sharp hollow needle. The needle hub slides coaxially in the handle. In the hub, there is a long flashback chamber, to view blood entry. A hollow tube in the handle connects the hub to the near end opening, but only when the needle tip is extended. When the tip is retracted, the tube is largely collapsed. Preferably the near end opening includes a female luer fitting. |
