<p>The flowmeter consists of a box contg. two chambers (C1,C2). The closed chamber (C1) has an inlet pipe and an outlet pipe which are connected to a tube carrying a liq. In chamber (C1) is a rotor, which has a magnetic element fitted to the tip of each rotor blade, and which is rotated by the flow of the liq. In chamber (C2), and near to the wall sepg. the two chambers, is a solenoid. The rotation of the rotor blades causes the solenoid to emit pulses, which are fed via an amplifier to a Schmidt trigger, which is followed by a one-shot flip-flop, a pulse divider, and a pulse counter, which provides a signal representing the flow of the liq. The box is pref. made of polypropylene reinforced with asbestos. Used esp. for connection in a return tube leading from a patient to a dialysis appts., so accurate and reliable metering can be achieved.</p> |
