The parallel conductive cores of strip cable are separated by intermediate spaces and embedded in insulation, over the conductive core length is provided at least one shunt strip for contacting, formed by lateral bend-and-back fold of the strip cable with the insulation at the free ends stripped. The adjacent cores of the strip cable are firmly clamped. On the strip cable side, away from the shunt strip, is provided a high tensile strength member along the entire length of the cable. This member is pref. a part of the strip cable between shunt section and may be a plastics strap. Alternatively, glass fibre braiding is used. Packs of insulation round the shunt strip may be firmly coupled by hot sealing. The cores are also typically flat. In addition to manual application, the strip cable may be used as a cable harness.
