摘要 <p>The mercury vapour rectifier has an ignition pin, which can be supplied with a voltage pulse for ignition of an excitation arc. The voltage pulse is provided by a voltage charge of a capacitor (C) coupled to the ignition pin (Z). via an intermediate connection of a thyristor (V). The latter is ignited across a contact (K2) of a relay (K), incorporated in the excitation circuit of the rectifier (G). This manner the known ignition relay for light arc maintenance is replaced by contactless ignitor(s), which eliminates mechanical switching with resulting abrading and erosion. Since the thyristors service life is practically unlimited the failure incidence of the mercury vapour rectifier is almost completely eliminated, as far as it may be caused by light arc quenching.</p>
