<p>The load handling device for e.g. a workshop has a vertical column (5) with a shaft (1) which can rotate about its vertical axis (10). The shaft carries a horizontal jib (2) with a load carrying arm (3) at one end, the other end (18) overhanging the column and carrying a sliding balance weight (19). The horizontal jib has two parallel arms (9,11) connected by short arms at their ends, forming a parallelogram linkage. The travel of the balance weight is controlled by a hydraulic cylinder (20) mounted at the top of the shaft and operated by a control lever (33) mounted on the load carrying arm. The travel of the weight is limited by inner and outer stops (24,26) carried by supports (25,27) permitting adjustment. A brake (35) adjacent to the connection between the jib and the vertical shaft acts as a safety device in the event of loss of pressure for the cylinder.</p> |
