STRONTIUM TITANATE PARTICLE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain strontium titanate particles grown in the crystal axis direction and useful as starting material for a ceramic dielectric material by mixing potassium titanate fiber with strontium oxide and calcining the mixture to cause a reaction. CONSTITUTION:One mole potassium titanate fiber represented by formula K2O. nTiO2 is mixed with n mole strontium oxide or a strontium compound such as strontium hydroxide or strontium carbonate convertible into strontium oxide by decomposition at a high temp. The mixture is calcined to cause a reaction by which a strontium component is substituted for a potassium component in the potassium titanate fiber. Thus, SrTiO3 crystal particles grown in the crystal axis direction are formed. A K-base component formed by the liberation is then removed with water or acid to take out desired SrTiO3 crystal particles.
