The bicycle has its front brake calipers (28) fitted to the front fork head (22) on a double ended rod (32) in the centre of which is a support block (40). The rod (32) is fitted through a hole (38) in the fork head (22) and is held in place by a securing plate (6) which is screwed on the rod (32) until it and the support block (40) are in contact with the fork head. The rod is then further tightened by grub screws (68) in the securing plate (60). The brake caliper (28) is then fitted to the free end of the rod in the normal way. This ensures that the rod is held securely in place without affecting the tension of the brake caliper.
