PURPOSE:To improve the productivity of the continuous casting work, to greatly reduce the amount of unfinished products, and to save the energy consumption, by regulating the breadth of a continuously cast slab into a desired size with a vertical rolling roll, and by hot rolling the salb with a predictably polished work roll. CONSTITUTION:A slab 8 discharged from a continuous casting machine 1 is passed through a soaking pit 7 and is regulated to various breadth correspoding to the order by a vertical roll 2. The slab 8 with thus regulated breadth is rolled roughly by a roughing mill 6 and is then finished by a finishing mill. Hereupon, the work rolls 4 of the finishing mill are predictably polish by the operation of a roll polishing machine 5 depending on a predicted polished signal of a controller 10 capable of computing a predicted amount of the abrasion of the roll. The profile and chape of thus finished slab 8 are respectively measured by a profile meter P and a shape detector F. These measurement signals are inputted to the controller 10 which then judges the necessity of correction for the roll by computing these input signals together with a preinputted reference value and other information; if a repolishing is required, a correction command is sent to the roll polishing machine 5 which then applies a correction polishing to the roll. |
