The invention relates to a practice target propulsion installation, in the case of which the practice targets are transported from the bullet trap to the gunner and back, by means of the target holder, which is operated by a double towing cable, in order to evaluate the hit pattern. The object of the invention is to create a locking element which at the same time enables vibration-free and soft centring and shock absorption of the target holder on the bullet trap. The essence of the invention is that the locking device consists of a locking buffer and a corresponding locking support, soft centring the locking device, with a low contact-pressure force, and immediately braking and locking, to millimetric accuracy, being ensured by the special shape and a suitable selection of materials. <IMAGE>
