<p>Apparatus for testing rheological properties of viscoelastic material comprises, in combination, a die having two die members (20 and 21) which may be heated and temperature controlled, each member having a face opposing a face of the other member, annular wall means (23) attached to at least one of said faces, annular sealing means (22) arranged to contact said wall means, said faces, wall means and sealing means defining a closed space, means biasing said members towards one another, means for rotating one of said members with respect to the other, and measuring means for measuring rheological properties of a viscoelastic material contained in said die, and is characterised in that each face of the die has at least one annular protrusion (24-29) extending therefrom toward the opposing face, the annular protrusions from one face intermeshing with the annular protrusions from the opposing face.
<??>The rheological properties of a viscoelastic material are measured by enclosing a sample of the material between the two die members (20 and 21), shearing the sample by displacing one member with respect to the other and measuring the displacement force. </p> |
