DEVICE FOR SEPARATING OXYGEN FROM AIR ELECTROCHEMICALLY

PURPOSE:To prevent excessive dilution of electrolyte concn. on account of mutual diffusion of water and electrolyte by interposing an airtight weir vessel connecting an electrolytic cell and a makeup water tank and transferring the makeup water to the electrolytic cell side only when the level of the electrolyte lowers. CONSTITUTION:An airtight weir vessel 3 is installed between an electrolytic cell 1 which electrochemically separates oxygen from air and a makeup water tank 2. When disoxidation operation is accomplished in the cell 1, the water content in the electrolyte 6 evaporates and the level of the electrolyte 6 lowers. As the liquid level lowers, the level of the electrolyte 6' in the vessel 3 also lowers to evacuate a space part 12, then the water 13 in the tank 2 forces upward the water 13' in the vessel 3. This water flows over a weir 14 and shifts into the electrode 6' side. Then, the level of the electrolyte 6 returns again to the original position. The decrease in electrolyte concn. is effectively prevented by this mechanism.
