IMAGE FIBER WITH LIGHT GUIDE

PURPOSE:To realize an adjustment for the emission angle of an illumination light with no use of lens and thus attain a simple and compact structure for an image fiber, by surrounding the image fiber with a light guide and then forming the emission end surface of the light guide into a cone. CONSTITUTION:The form of a fiber end surface that surrounds an image fiber 1 with a light guide 2 via a jacket 3 provided at the outer circumference of the fiber 1 and have a protective coat 5 at its outer circumference is made convex or concave along with the light emission end surface 7 of the guide 2. In the case of a convex form, the angle 740C formed by the horizontal surface of the fiber 1 and the cone surface 7 of the guide 2 is varied to give a drift to the emission angle of the guide 2 toward the inside. Thus the light can be condensed at the area to be observed within a viewfield of the fiber 1. When the surface 7 of the guide 2 is made into a concave cone, the emission angle of the illumination can be drifted toward the outside.
