PURPOSE:To secure such a positive electrode that is large in a quantity of electricity for charging and discharging by using specified nickel-chromate as an active material of the positive electrode for an organic electrolyte secondary battery. CONSTITUTION:An organic electrolyte made up of dissolving organic solvent- soluble lithium salt in an organic solvent, a negative electrode having reversibility in charging and discharging, and an oxide consisting of such composition as xNiO.CrO3(0.15<=x<=1.0) as a positive electrode active material are used. Here, if x is less than 0.15 and especially comes to 0.1, chromate of nickel to be formed is dissolved in the organic electrolyte so that it cannot be used for a positive electrode. And, if the x becomes larger than 1.0, a quantity of electricity per chrome atom is large, but a portion of NiO accounting for the xNiO.CrO3 comes to be large, thus the quantity of electricity relatively possible for charging and discharging is decreased. With this constitution, this CrO3 is effectively utilizable, whereby discharge voltage of a battery and the quantity of electricity both can be made larger. |
