Taurine derivs. of formula QCH2CH2SO2NR1R2 (I)S are new (where Q is phthalimido; R1 is H and R2 is Me, Et, n-Pr, i-Pr or n-Bu, or NR1R2 is pyrrolidino). Also claimed is the use of (I) and corresp. cpds. (Ia) where R1/R2 are H/H, Me/Me, H/t-Bu or H/COMe in drugs or drug compsns. (I) and (Ia) have anticonvulsant activity (e.o. with ED50 values of 93-300 mg/kg i.p. in standard tests) and/or antiarrhythmic activity without sedative side- effects. They may be useful for treating epilepsy. |
