Remotely operated clamp overhead power wires - uses cast aluminium clamp fitted over line and tightened by screw having large eye hook to allow stick operation

The clamp allows anchor cables to be clamped to overhead power lines while providing for unclamping by remote operation to allow the operator to undo the clamp from the ground, using a suitable insulated stick. The clamp is mfd. from cast aluminium, in two halves which are soldered together over the power line. A tubular fitting for the anchor cable is welded to one side of the clamp. A hollowed shoe is forced upwards, to clamp the cable against the top of the clamp, by a screw having a large diameter eye hook which accepts the end of a suitable insulated stick to allow live working. The screw has two sections, the lower having right hand thread and the upper having left hand thread to ensure firm clamping.
