<p>An ultrasonic device fixes buttons on to fabrics of varying thicknesses. The button is in two parts, and comprises a preform of a first head (1) integral with a plastic shank (2) and a second head (3). The shank passes into or through the fabric, which is held by a moving support (11). The end of the shank (10) enters a conical bore (14) of the button's second head (3), and melts to form a complete unit. The device offers a method of ultrasonically fixing many kinds of buttons into fabrics of varying thicknesses, without bringing the fibres of the fabric into the welding area.</p> |
