PURPOSE:To make it possible to absorb inconsistency in the locking pressure by making freely adjustable a locking ring provided in the inner periphery of the cylinder end part on the side where a piston rod projects after filling gas, in a gas- filled stay damper to be mounted on the back door of an automobile. CONSTITUTION:A gas filled stay damper is constituted in such a manner that a piston 21 coupled to a piston rod 21 is slidably inserted in a cylinder 20, and the interior of the cylinder 20 is partitioned into oil chambers 24A and 24B. Further, a free piston 23 is inserted into the cylinder 20 to partition a gas chamber 25. In this case, a locking ring 26 screw-coupled to the inner periphery of the cylinder on the upper end of the cylinder 20, and a stationary guide bearing 27 at the lower part of said ring 26 are arranged on the upper end of the cylinder 20. Further, a free piston 28 and a compression spring 33 are interposed between both members 26 and 27. A taper sleeve 29 having a wedge effect for clamping a piston rod 22 at the time of lowering the gas pressure and a movable locking member 31 consisting of a protective cylinder 20 formed integrally therewith are arranged on the upper surface of the free piston 28. |
