The invention concerns a gas or petrol internal combustion engine operating with a four-stroke cycle having a cylinder head comprising for each cylinder a combustion chamber, an intake duct and an intake valve (6); it comprises an induction pipe (17) connected on the intake duct (2) and provided with a flow adjusting throttle valve and also a separator component (16), set in the intake duct near the valve (6), said component (9) being shaped so as to limit the combustion gas and fresh gas mixture zone (Z) in the intake duct (2) at the start of the intake cycle, to a partial load. The separator component (16) is shaped to partition the intake duct (2) transverse section so as to divide said section into a plurality of individual ducts over a predetermined length L; it consists for example of a flexible part, compressed when it is inserted in the intake duct (2), which unfolds, against the duct inner wall when it is released.
