PURPOSE:To provide the title material by mixing powder of specified metals or metal diborides into mixed powder based on TiB2 and a Ni-P alloy followed by pressurizing and sintering. CONSTITUTION:A sintering material based on TiB2 and a 3-25% P-contg. Ni-P alloy and contg. at least two kinds of metals selected from Mo, Nb, Ta, Re, etc. in an amt. of 1-10% to the amt. of TiB2 or at least two kinds of metal diborides selected from CrB2, TaB2, HfB2, AlB2, etc. in an amt. of 3-95% to the amt. of TiB2. PREPARATION:Raw material powder of the above compsn. is filled into a graphite mold, pressurized in a vacuum or a reducing gas atmosphere, and sintered at 1600- 2000 deg.C. USE:The resulting sintered material is excellent in relative density, machanical strength, hardness and heat resistance, and it is used as a heat resistant material, a wear resistant material and a cutting tool material. |
