<p>The storage inductors are non-magnetically coupled chokes (L1,L2) which are charged in anti-phase by the action of two electronic switches (S1,S4;S2,S3). The immediately connected switches (S1,S2) are shunted by primary windings (W3,W4) of an auxiliary transformer (Tr2) whose secondary windings (W5,W6) are connected to the primary dc supply (Ue) such that the remanent energy is the chokes is alternately returned to the supply. The electronic switching is timed to give an overlap during which one choke is discharging into the load and the other is rapidly charging from the supply. At the end of the overlap the newly charged choke begins to discharge into the load. At the same time the already discharging choke is made to continue its discharge into one primary winding of the auxiliary transformer thus returning its remaining energy to the supply. There is no abrupt switching on the primary or output side of the transducer thus reducing the harmonic content of the voltages.</p> |
