PURPOSE:To enhance the wear resistance, sound- and vibration-proofing properties of a metallic material by simultaneously build-up welding metallic powder and nonmetallic powder with a high m.p. to the material by melt-spraying to form a sprayed metallic layer contg. uniformly dispersed nonmetallic particles. CONSTITUTION:A composite material consisting of metallic and nonmetallic particles is build-up welded to the surface of a metallic material by spraying to enhance the wear resistance, sound- and vibration-proofing properties. At this time, a metallic material such as Al, Mg or Cu having 40-60mum size is mixed with a 5-50wt% nonmetallic material such as molding sand, SiO2, SiC, Si3N or Al2O3 having >= 800 deg.C high melting temp. and 50-100mum size, and the mixture is build-up welded in 0.5-10mm. thickness by plasma spraying, flame spraying or other method. The nonmetallic particles are uniformly dispersed in the metal of the sprayed layer to enhance the wear resistance and other characteristics. |
