Tufting bar for holding row of tufting elements - secured by clamping screws in keyed groove in bar permitting replacement of individual elements

A row of needle, knife or gripper elements in a tufting machine is held in a bar having a longitudinal groove, perpendicular to the direction of production, to house the shafts of the elements. One of the faces of the groove has a longitudinal ridge or notch which engages a corresponding notch or ridge on the shaft, and in the opposite side of the bar are staggered rows of clamping screws, of which there is at least one to each element, to secure the elements in the groove. The width of the shafts corresponds to the required spacing of the elements. This is a simple construction which provides a secure hold on the elements with accurate spacing, and permits the replacement of individual damaged elements.
