In the housing (1) of the electric household appliance a retaining chamber (2), open outwards, is formed. In the chamber is mounted a winding drum (3), shiftable in the direction of the housing aperture (4). On the aperture side, the winding drum has a front wall (5), forming simultaneously a fitting closure wall for the retention chamber. Pref. the drum is mounted on a guide (7) extending from the inner wall towards the aperture. The guide member may be formed by a central boss in the rear wall. This member may be tubular and may have stops (8) limiting the winding drum axial movement. Each stop may be in the form of a radially resilient element for engagement of a long slot (9) in the winding drum. The drum may have walls on both ends walls (5,10) defining the winding space for the connecting line.
