PURPOSE:To perform ultrasonic flaw detection of weld zones of submarine struc- tures and the like with high performance and high accuracy by driving and controlling a scanner based on specified weld line data. CONSTITUTION:This is provided with an ultrasonic flaw detector 1 having a probe for flaw detection, a scanner 3 moving the probe 10 in the circumferential and axial length directions of pipe materials, and a data processing device 4 performing prescribed operation by transmitting and receiving signals between the flaw detector 1 and the scanner 3. The device 4 specifies the weld line by giving the data relating to the size of the pipe materials which are being welded and the angles of intersections between the pipe materials, and the scanner 3 is driven and controlled so as to copy the probe scanning along the weld line based on the specified weld line data. |
