The artificial bait comprises a propeller-shaped wing (5) which is mounted on a spindle (4) such that it can freely rotate. The said spindle (4) is fastened to the ends (2, 3) of a C-shaped hoop (1). If the bait is pulled through the water on a line (13) the wing (5) rotates and thanks to its gleaming surface produces a lively flashing and, in addition, acoustic waves. The high degree of effectiveness of the bait is to be attributed to the combination of optical flashing and acoustic waves thus produced. A fish-hook (15) is hooked into an eyelet at the rear end (2) of the hoop (1). A second fish-hook (14) hooked into an eyelet (10) arranged in the central region of the hoop (1) brings about the particular advantage that faulty bites by fish attacking from the side are prevented. <IMAGE>
