PURPOSE:To prevent the rusting of a metal surface by applying a pretreating agent contg. an acid to the metal surface having rust in a wet state, reacting the acid with the rust and applying a rust treating agent contg. an acid eroding the rust and resin for film formation so as to coat the metal surface with the resin and the resulting acid-rust reaction product. CONSTITUTION:A metal surface having rust is wetted with water and a pretreating agent contg. an acid eroding the rust such as tannic acid is applied to the metal surface in a wet state. The acid reacts with the rust to form a reaction product released from the metal surface. A rust treating agent contg. an acid having eroding action to the rust on the metal surface and resin forming a film on the metal surface such as thermoplastic synthetic resin is then applied and dried. The rust is removed from the metal surface and a coating layer contg. the acid-rust reaction product is formed to obtain a metal surface having a rust preventing effect. |
