PURPOSE:To couple the light from a light source without any loss to an optical fiber by successively superposing transparent plates of successively decreasing reflective indexes and press-fixing thereto a transparent rod of which the leading end is made into a horn shape and which has a prescribed refractive index, thereby forming the coupler. CONSTITUTION:A transparent rod 16 of a refractive index n1, of which the pointed end part 16 is made into a horn shape, is press-fixed under heating to a laminated body which is made by superposing transparent plates 17-1, 17-2...17-n of refractive indexes having the relations n1>n2>n3...>nn and is placed on a heating table 18 having a recess 19. In this way, the material formed with the laminated transparent plates 20 having pointed spherical surfaces 21 and the rod 15 into one body is formed into an optical transmission body of a horn shape like a light source coupler 12. This coupler 12 is provided between a light emitting element 1 such as light emitting diode and an optical fiber 4, whereby a light beam 13 is coupled without any loss to the optical fiber 4 through combination use of lens effect and refractive index effect. |
