PURPOSE:To permit instantaneous focusing by providing an image sensors in a manner that one arrangement direction is paralleled to the imaging plane and that the other arrangement direction is inclined thereto. CONSTITUTION:An imaging optical system 11 forming >=1 independent imaging surfaces from one lens system and an image sensor 17 which is so disposed that the imaging plane and one of the arrangement direction of photosensitive picture elements 16 parallel and the other arrangement direction incline to the image plane at a prescribed angle are provided. Further, a signal circuit 18 which is a means of calculating the contrast information of the image output signal of said image sensor 17 and a means of detecting the position of the image plane from this contrast information are provided. |
