METHOD FOR PREVENTING WEAR OF MOLD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To prevent the high-temp. corrosion and abrasion of mold surfaces by interposing an inert gas or an inert gas mixed with a lubricant in the clearances between the inside surfaces of the mold and an ingot. CONSTITUTION:Slitlike ejection holes or ejection ports of a circular shape arrayed in one row are horizontally opened roughly in the central part of copper plates disposed with backing plates, whereby a mold is formed. Supply pipes 11 which supply an inert gas or an inert gas including a lubricant are mounted to these ejection ports on the rear surface of the mold. When the inert gas is supplied into these pipes 11, the inert gas infilters the clearances between the inside surfaces and the ingot, thus protecting the surfaces of the mold.
