The catch for a safety belt lock consists of a tongue (2) which fits between the top and bottom plate (3) of a housing. In the top and bottom plates (3) are matching sections (5) with a triangular cavity inbetween in which the bolt (6) moves to lock the tongue. At the pointed end of the sections (5) there is a pin at right angles to the plates and forming part of a guide plate (8) extending along the edge of the tongue. The guide plate has a bridge piece extending between the top and bottom plate (3), and has protuberances (10) and one protuberance (12) fitting into a section of the top and/or bottom plates (3).
