Flowmeter for measuring low liquids flow rates - uses restricted inlet cross=section of body displacement annulus

The flowmeter, pref. for liquids, has an annular channel in a sealed housing. The liquid enters the channel via a tangential inlet (15), drives rounded bodies (17), pref. spheres, part a measurement point, and leaves via an outlet (16). The arrangement has an inlet of relatively narrow cross-section compared to the channel and outlet so as to produce more acceleration of the spherical bodies at the sensor (19) position and thus enable smaller flow rates to be measured than with conventional arrangements. The outlet (16) is also tangential to the channel (14). The specific wt. of the rounded bodies (17) is approximately equal to that of the liquid in the annular channel. The inlet is in the form of a nozzle whose cross-section is no more than half that of the outlet.
