PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high Cr containing metal containing >=85% Cr and less contents of Al, Si and S, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: This high Cr-containing metal is produced by an arc melting furnace and contains >=85% Cr, <=0.005% Al, <=0.1% Si, and <=0.002% S, In the method for producing the high Cr-containing metal, chromium oxide heated and melted by an arc melting furnace is reduced with Si to obtain a molten metal containing >=85% Cr, next, slag produced by the Si reduction is exhausted from the arc melting furnace, after the exhaust of the slag, basic flux is newly added to the inside of the arc melting furnace to melt the basic flux by an arc, slag produced by the melting of the basic flux and the above molten metal are brought into contact with each other to refine the molten metal, and, after that, the molten metal is take out of the arc melting furnace and is cast.
