SOLUTION: The cross connect system is provided with Incoming IPPM function section 2-1, 2-2 having a pointer processing section 11, that applies reception pointer processing/transmission pointer processing to an input signal S1 and a 'Path Monitor' function section 22 that applies path monitoring to the input signal S1 subjected to reception pointer processing, a cross connect 1 that conducts path rearrangement of an output signal S2 subjected to transmission pointer processing by the pointer processing section 21, and Outcoming IPPM function sections 3-1, 3-2 that have a simple pointer processing section 31, that applies simple processing to the reception pointer of an output signal S3 sent from the cross connect 1 to a transmission line B and a 'Path Monitor' function section 32 that receives B3&G1 Byte position information from the simple pointer 31 and extracts the B3&G1 Byte to monitor a path.</p>
