A ferromagnetic alloy having an intermetallic or metallic intermediary component of rare earths and transition metals having the formula: R(NixFe1-x)A where 0.35 </= x </= 0.55 5.0 < A < 8.5 and also a ferromagnetic alloy of the type R(NixFeyCo1-x-y)A are proposed, in both compounds R being at least one element of the lanthanides or the light rare earths or Y, thus in particular yttrium, lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium and samarium, and additionally for the last formula the following being intended to hold good: 0.02 </= x </= 0.55 x/y = 0.01-25.0 0.01 </= y </= 0.65 5.0 < A < 8.5. Preferably, nickel and iron are present in approximately or even virtually equimolar proportions in both alloys.
