PURPOSE:To detect fall of the phosphor material of a phosphor screen, by applying polarized light becames to a panel covered with a phosphor material and detecting the transmitted rays or the reflected rays of polarized lights through polarizing filters having directional transmitting characteristic different from the deflecting direction of the polarized lights. CONSTITUTION:A glass panel 21 provided with its completed coating of phosphor screen is placed on an inspection bed 40. On the lower part of the inspection bed 40, pasleurizing lamps 41 or black lamps 42 and white lamps 43 provided with a polarizing filter 50 are arranged respectively. After checking the color mixture of a luminescent color by the pasteurizing lamps 41 or the black lamps 42, inspection light is changed to polarized rays by switching to white ray lamps 43, and irradiated on the panel 21. Then, its transmitted rays or its reflected rays are observed through polarizing filters 50 and polarizing spectacles with polarizing direction shafted by 90 deg. from that of the polarizing filters 50. Then, as the fall of phosphor material is seen blackly, detection is facilitated. |
