PURPOSE:To improve the sealing and anticorrosion characteristics of a container by using an Fe-Cr-Mo stainless steel with a specific composition for a container material of a lithium-iodine battery. CONSTITUTION:A battery container is constituted with a sealing cap 1 forming a cylinder with a hole at the center and provided with a negative terminal 4 on the hole spaced with glass adhesive 3, and a metal can 2. A positive active material 6 comprising an electron charge transfer complex of iodine and phenothiazine and a negative active material 5 comprising metal lithium are contained in the can, the edge of the sealing cap 1 and the edge of the metal can 2 are welded together with a negative collector 7 and an insulator 8 of Teflon to form a lithium-iodine battery. A container 1, 2 of the battery is formed from an Fe-Cr-Mo stainless steel comprising 25-29wt% of Cr, 0.7-1.5wt% of Mo, and residual amount of Fe. |
