PURPOSE:To simplify a device by decreasing the number of key switches, by generating ''kana'' character codes by combinations of a consonant key, which can not generate any code by itself, and an independent key. CONSTITUTION:Numeric arithmetic part 1 consists essentially of a microprocessor; parallel input-output interface 2 is connected to the arithmetic part 1, and key switch group 4 is further connected to interface 2 via decoder 3 provided with a latch. This switch group 4 is provided with ten vowel keys ''a'', ''i''... and ''0'' in total for generating vowels, and eight consonant keys for the ''k'' series, ''s'' series... ''r'' series which can not generate any codes individually. Then, key-scanning strobe pulse is sent from numeric arithmetic part 1 to switch group 4 via interface 2 and decoder 3 and a ''kana'' character code is generated by a combination of a consonant key and an independent key, decreasing the number of the key switches. |
