PURPOSE: A device and a method for dithering/compressing animated image data are provided to improve image quality, increase a compression rate, and to raise a transmission efficiency and storage efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A device for dithering/compressing animated image data includes a dithering part(40), a control part(30), a compression part(50) and a restored feedback part(60). The dithering part selectively outputs one of a unit block of the present dithered frame and a unit block of a restored former frame. The control part extracts difference information between the unit block of the present frame and the unit block of the former frame and controls selection of the dithering part according to the extracted information. The compression part performs exclusive OR operation of a bit unit between the output of the dithering part and the unit block of the restored former frame, compresses the operated unit block and the output of the dithered part, and selects and outputs one of the compressed unit block data. |
